Welcome. We’ve put a lot of love, time and effort into writing this guide and hope it helps you optimize your skin and inner health.
This book is the fruit of our combined 30 something years of clinical experience. Over that time we’ve helped countless people with skin problems as well as lectured and written on wholistic treatments. Our extensive and diverse backgrounds give us a unique and powerful clinical perspective. It has allowed us to develop wholistic skincare programmes that bring together effective natural treatments from a number of health modalities – Allopathic medicine, Chiropractics, Elemental medicine (Acupuncture, Kinesiology, Shiatsu), Medical Herbalism, Naturopathy, Osteopathy and Massage.
Our book is for anyone who has skin. Over its pages you’ll learn how to rejuvenate already healthy skin and also how to deal with the everyday problems of dryness, flaking, pimples, rashes, sensitivities, irregular pigmentation, puffiness, sagging and wrinkles.
Why did we write this book? The skin is our largest, most sensitive organ. Its health affects every aspect of our lives, evoking strong emotions and making us take risky and expensive measures to ‘fix’ it – longterm antibiotics, steroids, lasering, resurfacing, chemical peels, botox, filler injections and facelifts. While offering relief, these practices can also suppress symptoms, ignore underlying issues and even damage the skin and inner health.
How you can make the best use of our book
The Fundamentals gives you the background information you need to understand and improve your skin and inner health. In Bare skin facts we explain what makes up skin, how it grows and repairs itself, the many important roles it plays and its connections with the internal organs. This information creates a backdrop for the other sections in the book and will help you appreciate the impact of skincare, nutrition and inner wellbeing on your skin’s health and beauty.
Ten Essentials presents the 10 main factors that influence skin and inner health. We explore each topic and provide a variety of practical options that could be used to support healthy skin and resolve common problems. These lists of solutions are not a substitute for medical treatment. Rather, they are given for your information and as a basis for working effectively with a practitioner. There are far too many herbs, nutrients and skincare suggestions that any one person could or should use. With the help of a good practitioner, the most appropriate options can be selected and a programme tailored to your individual needs.
The second section contains the skincare techniques and programmes.
Quick-fix offers you a 3-7 day programme to improve your skin, hair and general wellbeing before an important event. The goal is to soothe and calm the skin, reduce general puffiness, give hair shine and definition, regulate the bowels and relieve gas and bloating. Quick-fix improves without provoking a detox. That might worsen the skin’s condition, just when you want to look your best.
For the best results, first try Quick-fix away from an important event. This enables you to adjust the programme’s elements depending on your skin’s responses and get the best outcome when you need it most.

There are 3 basic programmes in Skin Rejuvenation - Life Maintenance, Gentle Cleanse and Deep Cleanse. A broad understanding of the subject will explain our recommendations and help you effectively solve health problems from first principles. In conjunction with appropriate practitioner support, the advice in this book can keep your skin looking radiant for life and improve your general health as well.
